The Lowdown on Ethical Gold

Gold may be world’s most coveted precious metals, but mining for gold can be quite a dirty business.  It can cause untold ecological chaos and is also often linked to poor treatment of workers and child labour in the developing world.

Luckily when we started Ascension (or Adili as it was called at the beginning) we found a fabulous gold jewellery designer called Vivien Johnson who is the brains and beauty behind Fifi Bijoux.  She founded the company on the ethos that child labour, forced labour or the appalling working conditions which can be seen in many mining operations and jewellery production workshops were not acceptable conditions for a luxury industry.

So all of the gold used in our beautifully luxurious range of ethical gold by Fifi Bijoux comes with small-scale, artisanal cooperatives in South America who adhere to fair trade principles and environmental stewardship.

But the best thing of all about working with inspiring eco pioneers like Vivien is that she doesn’t ask you to compromise on chic design or luxury – her pieces are modern, unique, ethical but above all stunning.

Next time you want to buy something special for yourself or a loved one, think twice about where and how that gold was produced (and then pop along to our jewellery range and choose something that is as good as it is beautiful).

If you want to achieve excellence, you can get there today. As of this second, quit doing less-than-excellent work.
